These Spooky Spiderweb Deviled Eggs with Paprika are a fun and festive Halloween appetizer that’s quick to make and a crowd-pleaser. The smoked paprika adds a warm, smoky flavor, and the spiderweb design is easier than it looks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (plus extra for the spiderweb design)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Cover with cold water, about an inch above the eggs. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, cover the pot, turn off the heat, and let sit for exactly 10 minutes. Set a timer.
  2. While eggs cook, prepare an ice bath (bowl of cold water and ice cubes). When timer goes off, transfer eggs to ice bath using a slotted spoon. Let chill for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Gently tap each egg on the counter to crack the shell all over. Peel starting from the wider end. Run under cold water as needed to help remove shell.
  4. Slice each peeled egg in half lengthwise. Remove yolks and place in a mixing bowl. Arrange egg white halves on a serving platter, cut side up.
  5. To the bowl of yolks, add mayonnaise, yellow mustard, white vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and olive oil (if using). Mash with a fork until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Spoon filling into a piping bag or zip-top bag. If using a zip-top bag, squeeze filling into one corner and snip off about 1/4 inch from the tip. Pipe filling into each egg white half, mounding slightly.
  7. Lightly sprinkle paprika over the filled eggs in a thin, even layer.
  8. Using a toothpick or skewer, start from the center of the filling and drag a line outward toward the edge of the egg white. Repeat 5-6 times around the egg to create spokes. Then, gently drag the toothpick in a curved line between two spokes, connecting them. Repeat in a spiral pattern, working outward. Each curved line should be slightly further from the center.

Notes

For best results, use eggs that are a week old for easier peeling. Smoked paprika adds depth, but regular paprika works for the web design. The filling can be made a day ahead; assemble and draw webs on serving day. Let eggs come to room temperature before boiling to prevent cracking.
