A fun, interactive Halloween appetizer featuring a creamy ranch dip made with Greek yogurt, decorated with pretzel spider webs and spiders, served with a variety of fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full fat recommended)
  • 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Black pretzel rods or sticks (broken into segments)
  • Small pretzel twists
  • Small black olives, sliced into thin rings (optional)
  • 2 cups baby carrots
  • 1 cup celery sticks
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup cucumber slices or sticks
  • 1 cup bell pepper strips

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep all vegetables, cutting them into uniform, bite-sized pieces. Arrange them on a serving platter, leaving a large clean space in the center for the dip.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, sour cream, dry ranch dressing mix, and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  3. Spoon the ranch mixture into the center of the platter and spread it into a large circle (6-8 inches) using a spatula, smoothing the edges.
  4. Place the platter in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the dip to firm up. Alternatively, freeze for 15 minutes if short on time.
  5. Once firm, break black pretzel rods into small, uneven segments. Place 4-6 longer segments radiating from the center like spokes.
  6. Connect the spokes with smaller pretzel segments to create a web pattern.
  7. Place small pretzel twists in the center or on edges to form spider bodies. Add sliced black olives for details if desired, pressing gently into the dip.
  8. Serve immediately or keep chilled until serving.

Notes

The dip must be chilled for at least 30 minutes to ensure structural integrity so pretzels do not sink. Add pretzels just before serving to prevent sogginess. For a dairy-free version, use thick unsweetened vegan yogurt. For a gluten-free version, use GF ranch mix and GF pretzels.
