Healthy Christmas Snack Mix (Nut-Free)

Healthy Christmas Snack Mix Nut-Free - featured image

A festive, nut-free holiday snack mix featuring toasted coconut, pretzels, cereal, and dried cranberries coated in a light white chocolate glaze. It offers a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors without the heaviness of traditional holiday treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Cheddar pretzel twists
  • 2 cups Chex cereal or Corn Chex
  • 1 cup Toast-y flavored corn cereal
  • 1 cup Dried cranberries
  • 1 cup White chocolate chips (dairy-free or regular)
  • 1/2 cup Red and green M&Ms or candy-coated chocolates
  • 1/2 cup Shredded coconut, unsweetened
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • A pinch Sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Measure pretzels, cereals, and dried cranberries into a large mixing bowl and toss to combine.
  2. Spread shredded coconut on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 2-3 minutes until golden. Remove immediately and let cool completely.
  3. Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler.
  4. Pour melted chocolate over the dry ingredients in the bowl. Add toasted coconut, cinnamon, and sea salt. Toss quickly to coat all pieces lightly.
  5. Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Break up any large clumps and let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to firm up.
  6. Once the chocolate has set slightly, gently fold in the red and green M&Ms or candy-coated chocolates.
  7. Lightly sift powdered sugar over the top and toss gently to distribute. Serve at room temperature.

Notes

Ensure dry ingredients are at room temperature before adding chocolate to prevent seizing. Toast coconut carefully as it burns quickly. Do not refrigerate the mix as humidity makes pretzels soggy. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For a dairy-free version, swap butter for coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate chips. For a gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free pretzels and cereal.
