A quick and easy Halloween snack featuring mini hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough with olive eyes, perfect for picky eaters and festive parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 pack mini hot dogs (cocktail-sized)
  • Sliced black olives (for eyes)
  • 1 egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, optional)
  • Yellow or Dijon mustard (for serving, optional)
  • Poppy seeds (for pupils, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and press seams together to form a large rectangle.
  4. Cut the dough into strips approximately 1 inch wide.
  5. Place a mini hot dog at the bottom of a dough strip and roll it up tightly.
  6. Wrap the remaining dough around the hot dog in a zigzag pattern, leaving small gaps to resemble bandages.
  7. Place two slices of black olive on the top part of the mummy for eyes; press gently to stick.
  8. Optionally add a tiny dot of mustard or poppy seed in the center of each olive for pupils.
  9. Repeat for all hot dogs, placing them on the baking sheet with space between each.
  10. Brush tops with egg wash for a golden finish (optional).
  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and puffed up.
  12. Cool for a few minutes before serving warm with mustard or ketchup.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to prevent tearing. If the dough gets warm, chill it in the fridge for a few minutes. Ensure hot dogs are dry before wrapping. Do not wrap the dough completely tight; leave gaps for the ‘bandage’ look. Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F to maintain crispiness.
