These portable, glossy-skewered appetizers combine salty prosciutto, creamy cheese, and tart cranberry glaze. Broiled to perfection, they offer a sweet-savory bite that is perfect for holiday hosting.

Ingredients

  • Full-fat brick-style cream cheese, softened
  • Cranberry sauce (jellied or whole berry)
  • Prosciutto di Parma or thick-cut deli ham
  • Brie or Camembert cheese, cut into cubes
  • Baguette or crostini, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Unsalted butter
  • Pure maple syrup
  • Freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Soak wooden skewers in warm water for 15 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Preheat the oven broiler on high and position the rack 4-5 inches from the heating element.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine cranberry sauce, maple syrup, and butter. Stir until smooth and glossy (3-5 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in black pepper.
  4. Cut baguette and brie into 1-inch cubes. Slice prosciutto in half if necessary.
  5. Assemble skewers by threading a cube of baguette, a dollop of cream cheese, a cube of brie, a spoonful of cranberry sauce, and a piece of baguette or wrapped prosciutto.
  6. Place assembled skewers on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
  7. Broil for 2-3 minutes, watching closely until prosciutto crisps and cheese melts.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately brush tops with reserved cranberry glaze. Serve hot.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers in water for 15 minutes before use to prevent burning. Watch the broiler closely as sugar burns quickly. Apply glaze after broiling to prevent burning. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge.
