These adorable mummy pigs in a blanket are made with crescent roll-wrapped mini sausages, topped with mustard eyes, and served with a tangy, creamy mustard dip. They’re quick, easy, and perfect for Halloween parties or any spooky gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 package (12 oz) mini smoked sausages or cocktail wieners
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 large egg (beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated triangles, press the seams together to form one solid rectangle. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. Take one mini sausage and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, leaving a small gap for the ‘eyes.’ Don’t wrap too tightly. Overlap the strips slightly for a more authentic mummy look. Place the wrapped sausage on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down. Repeat with the remaining sausages and dough strips.
  4. In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water until smooth. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops of each mummy with the egg wash.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  6. While the mummies are still warm, use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to dot two small eyes on each mummy with yellow mustard.
  7. While the mummies bake, whisk together the mayonnaise, yellow mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and salt in a small bowl. Taste and adjust. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  8. Arrange the mummies on a platter with the mustard dip in the center. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For gluten-free version, use gluten-free crescent roll dough. For dairy-free, most crescent rolls are dairy-free, but check labels. For the dip, Greek yogurt can replace mayo for a tangier, lower-fat version. Add mustard eyes after baking to prevent spreading.
