mummy hot dogs - featured image

These mummy hot dogs are wrapped in crescent roll dough and baked until golden, with ketchup eyes for a spooky, fun Halloween treat. Quick, easy, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (preferably beef)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • Ketchup (for the eyes)
  • Mustard (optional, for extra detail)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for a dusty look)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional, for a savory twist)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles along the perforated lines.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take a hot dog and wrap a strip of dough around it, leaving a small gap for the eyes. Overlap the strips slightly. Leave about 1/2 inch of the hot dog exposed at one end for the face.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  7. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes before adding the ketchup eyes.
  8. Dip a toothpick into ketchup and dab two small dots on the exposed hot dog end to create eyes.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use cold dough to prevent tearing. Let mummies cool slightly before adding ketchup eyes to prevent running. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated.
