Fun and simple mummy hot dogs made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked until golden, and topped with mustard eyes. Perfect for a quick Halloween dinner that kids love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (regular size)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard for the eyes (yellow mustard recommended)
  • Optional: cooking spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and lightly spray with cooking oil if using foil.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. Press the seams together gently to form one large rectangle.
  3. Cut the dough into thin strips, about ¼ to ½ inch wide, using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. You should get 12 to 15 strips.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with 2 to 3 strips of dough at a slight angle, leaving small gaps to resemble a mummy. Leave space near the top for the eyes. Do not wrap too tightly.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch between each.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes on the baking sheet before adding the eyes.
  8. Using a squeeze bottle or toothpick, dab two small dots of mustard on each mummy’s head for eyes.

Notes

For best results, use regular-sized hot dogs (not jumbo). Let the mummy dogs cool slightly before adding mustard eyes to prevent melting. You can wrap the hot dogs up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
