A festive Halloween appetizer featuring a creamy, spicy buffalo chicken base topped with a crispy panko crust and an intricate mozzarella spiderweb design.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 blocks (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie recommended)
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for web design)
  • 0.5 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs or crushed Ritz crackers (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, garlic powder, ranch seasoning, and celery salt. Mix thoroughly until smooth and uniform.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a 9×9 inch baking dish and spread evenly to create a flat surface.
  4. Drizzle small, random lines of shredded mozzarella across the top of the dip.
  5. Using a toothpick, skewer, or fork tines, drag from the center outward in straight lines, then drag in a circular motion to create a spiderweb pattern.
  6. Mix panko breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers) with melted butter and sprinkle evenly over the top of the dip.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Switch oven to broil and broil for 2-3 minutes until the topping is crispy and cheese is bubbly. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. Use a light hand when drawing the web to avoid digging into the dip. If your oven runs hot, tent with foil during broiling. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated before baking.
