A rustic, easy-to-make dessert that combines the rich, nutty flavors of traditional pecan pie with the convenience of a drop-biscuit cobbler topping. It offers a crispy exterior and a gooey, molten center, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, melted butter, heavy cream, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and slightly thickened.
  3. Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  4. Pour the pecan mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar.
  6. Add melted butter and milk to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until a shaggy dough forms.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dough evenly over the pecan filling, leaving gaps for bubbling.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Cool for at least 10 minutes before serving warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Ensure eggs and cream are at room temperature for best texture. Toast pecans for enhanced flavor. Do not overmix the topping to keep it tender. If the topping browns too quickly, tent with foil. Can be made gluten-free by swapping flour and dairy-free by using coconut milk/butter.
